Luke17: 17, Jesus asked, "were not all ten cleansed? Where are the nine?"
Here I would like to draw your attention on particular question which Jesus asked to disciples. Take heed, he is not asking to Pharisee or Sadducees or crowd. He is asking to his followers those who follow him, where were the other nine? When we look at it closely we found that Jesus wants teach some lesson to his disciples. Therefore Jesus deliberately took this route to go Jerusalem. When we study the gospel we come to know that Jews used to avoid the route of Samaria rather they prefer to go by crossing Jordan. In this scenario Jesus being a Jew willingly take the route of Samaria in oder to reach these lepor. There are vital truth that Jesus wants his disciples to know and practice in their life, not only these disciples but we who believe in Jesus and follow his teachings.
Grace of God reaches where nobody reach.
Luke 17: 12,13 " they stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, Jesus master have mercy on us." These lepor were outcast ,helpless and hopeless and always uttering unclean, unclean. So everyone who hears them would know these were unclean and out caste people. Therefore they could be overlooked by people who hears them but not so with Jesus whosoever comes to he never despises them. As soon as these lepor saw Jesus. They had theses glimpse of hope, immense courage to fight their challenges and found a friend to share their burden. Grace has reached where no one could reach. Same way the grace of God reaches to our darkest situation of life, gave us courge in hardest time of our life and hold us through the broken part of our life.
Grace of God teaches to obey him completely
Luke 17:14, "he said ,' go show yourselves to the priest ' . And as they went, they were cleansed". Jesus said , those who loves me obey me. My sheep knows my voice. The Grace of God has given us to obey him. In Leviticus chapter 14 the lepor has to go to priest so the priest could examine him/ her and then approving him/her to live normal life or not. Here Jesus also saying to these lepor to go and show themselves to the priest. He wants us to obey the word of God. It is written as they went they were cleansed. As soon as they start obeying Jesus they become cleansed from lepor. Sometimes it seems illogical to us when our friends, mates, colleagues don't obey the word of God but we do. Don't be discourage when we obey the word of God and strive to follow it with whole heartedly things become change for us and our surroundings. We allow his grace to work in our life. His grace breaks all the bondages of darkness, disappointments and frustrations. Only things we have to do is to listen and obey him with whole heartedly so his grace renewed our life.
Grace of God teaches us to have the heart of gratitude
Luke 17: 17, "were not all ten cleansed? Where are other nine?". One of the thing that irritates God is heart of ingratitude indeed He disapproves such people. And such kind of people never been in joy or peace with themselves. Ungratefulness is dangerous diseases than leprosy. Leprosy rotten the flesh of body but ungratefulness rotten the peace of soul. Being the follower of Jesus we must have heart of gratitude towards God. Looked at Jesus, whenever he prayed he thanked heavenly father for what he has done.when is the last time you have thanked God for education that you are getting, or the parents you have, or the country you live in, or health you have. If not, Jesus would asked you "are you among the nine?" Let's look at the lepor who came and praised Jesus.he was mad whole(well). A question raised here he was already cleansed, still Jesus said your faith has made you well. Whereas all the nine got only cleanness from leprosy but this man got wholeness of his soul. He got more than other nine. The grace of God has saved this man because he has that shows the gratitude towards God.
😊 Amen
